Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors. My excerpt today comes from Purple Heart which was released by The Wild Rose Press. The price of the book was just dropped to $2.99, and you can get it at http://www.thewildrosepress.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=88_119&products_id=404 and most other retail outlets. In this excerpt my heroine, a pretty, young widow dreams of her dead husband. The timing is interesting as she just met Mike Hightower. Jo is Ethan and Jenna's daughter.
“It’s time to let go, baby,” Ethan
said as he watched Jo splash around in the shallow water.
“Let what go?”
“You know. It’s time to move on.”
“No, never. I’ll never forget
you, Ethan. Don’t ask me to do that.”
Jenna awoke
with tears in her eyes.

Great 8, Elaine. =)
This touches me, Elaine. I've been there. Thank you.
Thank you, Ann and Charmaine. I appreciate that you came by.
Hopefully he'll make the point to her you don't have to forget to move on. Very well done, excellent excerpt!
Ooo, I like that a lot! Gave me chills. Great 8! :D
Thanks for coming Veronica and Karen.
Aww... This is so sad. I loved it. Poor Jenna, I can't imagine having to learn to let go after being widowed. Can't wait to read more.
Really poignant, Elaine. Well done
Poignant is the right word. You've captured anguish in each sentence.
Oh, wow. Very heartfelt. Very nice.
thanks for your visit Catherine, Jianne, Jenny, and Anne. I'm so glad you came.
Oh, poor Jenna! But letting go and moving on don't mean forgetting. Of course I can see how she would feel like it would be the same thing.
Letting go and moving on is hard. You expressed that well. Great snippet.
I can feel her pain! Very touching excerpt.
The hardest part is letting go . . . Very poignant moment!
This is very touching. Lovely.
Oh, a hard and sweet moment, Elaine. Nicely done. :)
Move on doesn't mean forget.
So sad :( I wonder if she will be able to take the advice and start to move on?
A dream? I hope. You don't have to forget to move on. I hope that everything works out for her. I feel sad for her!
I can totally understand her conflicted heart. I hope I get to read all about her reconciling the conflict and being one of the lucky few to love twice in her life. Great snippet.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to stop by. I appreciate it very much.
very evokative
Aww, that's so very touching. Lovely eight. Thank you.
Was that real -- or ws Jenna dreaming?
I've suffered dreams of losing a loved one and awakened in tears.
Yes, men cry.
Touching and heartbreaking. Lovely job, Elaine!
A very touching scene. I wonder if she'll be able to actually do what he says?
I know the feeling of having a dream that's so real. Very moving scene.
So touching! Very sweet scene.
Heartbreaking and lovely. We buried a loved one today, so this is especially touching for me now.
